Best Buy has a straightforward return policy that is easy to understand and provides customers with a guarantee of total purchase satisfaction. They are highly regarded and well respected, and their dedication to providing excellent service for their customers has made them one of the biggest retail chains in the world, having served millions of people and owning thousands of retail locations.
Best Buy offers two membership services called Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus Memberships. Customers who are members of either of these plans receive return policy benefits, which we will discuss later. But, for you average Joe’s out there with a standard eBay membership, most major appliances and products have a 15 day return and exchange period.
The standard appliance and product return period covers any return or product exchange for a product purchased within 15 days, with the only exclusion being cell phones or any device that can be activated – for these products the return and exchange period is only 14 days, and even Elite and Elite Plus members are restricted by the same 14 day period. This return and exchange period begins on the day that you receive your product, and these periods apply to all products whether they are new, clearance, refurbished, pre-owned or in an open box.
Some items have a restocking fee that will apply to any customer whether they have a membership plan with Best Buy or not. This includes cell phones, devices which can be activated, and any phone that is sold “unlocked”, which carries fees of $35 for Verizon unlocked phones, $45 for AT&T, and Sprint phones.
Aside from fees related to phones, Best Buy has a restocking fee of 15% of the original item’s purchase value. This fee applies to items such as Built-in cooktops, rideables (electric scooters, bikes and boards) and special-order products, built-in refrigerators, built-in wall ovens, drones, DSLR cameras and lenses, mirrorless cameras and lenses, premium camcorders, projectors, projector screens.
In order to return your item, you will have to gather a few things. Firstly, you will need to find all of the item parts, all original contents and packaging including all cardboard, styrofoam, plastic bags. You will also need a packing slip if you received one, or your purchase receipt, in addition to the credit card used to make your purchase and you will also require valid photo ID.
You can also return the item with a packing slip if you received one, or using a prepaid return label which allows you to return your purchase using the prepaid label and not have to pay any money. To return an item with a packing slip, simply fill out the form, and put it in the box with your return, with the return label on the outside of the package along with postage, and then simply mail it through the carrier of your choice.
The refund method and processing time can vary. With a few minor exceptions, Best Buy will reimburse you for returned items in the same manner that they were paid, and also allow you to exchange your returned product for the same item. For returns by mail, Best Buy processes the return within 2 to 3 days from the time they receive it. It may take up to 7 days to see refunded money in your account.
