An item described as unused vintage stock still needs inspection: age can affect rubber components and storage can leave corrosion. Keep the machine free of fabric lint and follow the instructions for its particular model when lubricating or adjusting it. Do not apply oil indiscriminately around fabric-contact surfaces. Keep fingers away from the cutting and feed areas, and stop turning the crank before making adjustments.
