Refurbished Xbox Consoles: Compare Prices

Start with the games you want to play, not the cheapest listing. Xbox Series X and Series S belong to a newer generation than Xbox One, One S and One X. Xbox One X is not an alternative name for Series X, and Xbox One S is not Series S. Check the full model name in the description and photos, particularly when a title uses abbreviations.

A refurbished Xbox Series S suits buyers who use digital games and do not need discs. It has no optical drive, so physical Xbox games cannot be installed from their discs. Xbox Series X comes in disc-equipped and digital-only versions; verify the exact edition rather than assuming every Series X accepts discs. For either model, check the installed storage and allow space for game downloads and updates.

A refurbished Xbox One S or Xbox One X can make sense for an existing Xbox One library, but these are older-generation consoles and do not run every Series X|S release. Most Xbox One S models accept discs; the One S All-Digital Edition does not. Choose a refurbished Xbox 360 or original Xbox for its particular game library, and check compatibility game by game before relying on a newer console to replace it.

Match the generation, storage and included equipment before judging value. A console-only offer is not directly comparable with a package containing a controller and all necessary cables. The listings include both configurations, and some titles explicitly state that cords are missing. Add the cost of anything you need before deciding whether a lower asking price represents a useful saving.

Read the contents list for the controller, power cable or external power supply, and display cable appropriate to the model. Do not assume an accessory shown in a stock image is included. For older Xbox systems, check that the supplied video connection works with your television. For controller bundles, confirm whether the controllers are original or third-party and whether battery covers or charging accessories are supplied.

Storage and edition can also change the comparison. A refurbished Xbox One S 1TB listing should be compared with another 1TB configuration when possible, not automatically with a 500GB model. Limited editions may appeal to collectors without improving everyday game performance. Treat bundled downloadable games cautiously: a previously redeemed code or a seller’s account is not a dependable game entitlement. Compare the delivered total and check an equivalent new console before committing.

Refurbished describes a console offered after inspection and any necessary work, but it does not establish a universal repair standard. Look for a description of testing, cleaning and repairs rather than relying on the label alone. A seller-refurbished console should not be assumed to have manufacturer certification. Likewise, used and open-box listings are different conditions and are not substitutes for the refurbished offers on this page.

Cosmetic grades such as Good, Very Good and Excellent help describe appearance, but grading definitions can vary. Review actual photos when available and check for missing panels, damaged ports or heavy wear. Ask whether the disc drive, controller pairing, network connection and video output were tested. For older models, a named repair is useful information, not proof that every ageing component has been replaced.

Read the individual offer’s return window, return-shipping responsibilities and warranty terms before paying. Confirm who provides coverage and what faults or accessories it excludes; coverage cannot be inferred from a condition grade. After delivery, test the console promptly with your own games, display and network. Check controller inputs, downloads and disc reading where applicable, while keeping packaging and purchase records until you are satisfied.
