Refurbished does not automatically mean every wear item was replaced, and open-box does not guarantee all original accessories remain. Read the individual condition description, inspect available photographs, and check the stated return terms. Seller claims such as 'tested' are more useful when they explain which functions were checked.

For used controllers, look for information about stick drift, stick centering, trigger response, shoulder buttons, and battery-contact corrosion. On wireless models, confirm that a battery holder or suitable rechargeable pack is supplied. On wired models, inspect the USB lead and check for any required breakaway connector. A missing small component can prevent immediate use even when the controller itself works.

Compare the delivered cost after shipping and any necessary receiver, batteries, or cable components. The lowest asking price is not automatically the cheapest ready-to-play setup. Treat unusually expensive limited editions as collector-oriented options rather than evidence that a standard controller should cost the same. Keep packaging, cosmetic condition, authenticity evidence, and functional condition distinct when making that decision.
