Turtle Beach Recon 70: Compare Headset Prices

The Turtle Beach Recon 70 is a passive wired stereo gaming headset with a 3.5mm connection, 40mm speakers, an attached flip-to-mute microphone and an earcup volume control. It does not need charging or batteries. Its closed-back, over-ear design uses synthetic-leather cushions. It suits shoppers who want a straightforward connection for game audio and voice chat rather than wireless pairing or onboard powered features.

For a Turtle Beach Recon 70 Xbox setup, connect the headset to the compatible controller’s 3.5mm headset socket. Xbox Series X|S controllers and Xbox One controllers with that socket support this connection; older Xbox One controllers without it need a compatible adapter. PS5 and PS4 users connect through the controller’s headset socket. Nintendo Switch and compatible mobile devices can use their headset jack, although microphone support depends on the device, game and chat arrangement.

Platform names and suffixes such as Recon 70X and Recon 70P often identify the intended console audience rather than an exclusive connection. Check the actual plug and compatibility description instead of choosing solely by packaging color. On a PC with separate headphone and microphone sockets, a compatible headset splitter may be needed; a combined headset socket generally accepts the single plug.

Current matching listings have asking prices of $8.99–$45.99, with a median of $17.99. These figures describe listed offers, not completed sales or guaranteed checkout totals. Compare like-for-like condition and include shipping, applicable taxes and any adapter you need. A lower advertised price can be less attractive if the listing leaves microphone operation or return eligibility unclear.

For new listings, confirm that the offer is for one complete headset rather than a multi-unit lot or headset-and-controller package. Open-box is a separate condition from new: inspect the description for handling marks, missing packaging and evidence of testing. Refurbished listings should explain what was checked or restored and who is responsible for any stated coverage. Do not assume refurbishment means manufacturer service.

With used headsets, prioritize clear photos of the cushions, headband, microphone hinge, cable and plug. Ask whether both speakers, the volume wheel, microphone pickup and flip-to-mute action work. Cracked cushions or an intermittent cable can undermine an otherwise inexpensive purchase. Titles alone cannot establish cleanliness or functionality, so read the complete description and verify the individual offer’s return terms before paying.

The Recon 70 receives audio through its analog connection; it does not contain a dedicated surround-sound processor. Compatible consoles and computers can supply headphone spatial audio, including supported platform features such as Windows Sonic or PS5 headphone 3D audio. Availability depends on the source device and settings, and some software formats require a separate license.

Lower the microphone boom to speak and raise it to mute. Position it near your mouth without placing it directly in your breath stream, then check the console or app’s input level. This is a practical headset for basic game chat, but the feature list alone does not establish microphone clarity or long-session comfort. When reading a Turtle Beach Recon 70 review, look for voice samples and comments about fit rather than assuming every color or platform label delivers a different sound.
