The original Xbox One uses an external power supply brick with a cooling fan. The Xbox One S and Xbox One X instead have internal power supplies and use a mains cord without an external brick. Confirm your console model before ordering: an original Xbox One power adapter is not a replacement for either newer model's internal supply. An original Xbox power cord can also mean the much older first-generation Xbox, so that wording alone is not enough to establish compatibility.

Look for a complete adapter with the console-side connector and a suitable wall power cord. Some listings describe only a cable, while others show a brick but leave the wall cord out of the package. Check both the description and product photographs. A cable that converts an Xbox 360 power brick connection is not a complete Xbox One replacement supply.

Keep the power brick on a firm, ventilated surface with its vents unobstructed. Claims such as quiet or low noise are retailer descriptions, not comparable test results. Look for clear electrical specifications and identifiable safety certification information rather than relying on those claims. Stop using a supply with damaged insulation, a burning smell or signs of overheating.
