Xbox 360 Consoles for Sale: Compare Prices

The Xbox 360 is Microsoft's seventh-generation console. The original design, S and E all play Xbox 360 disc games, so choosing between them is mainly about connections, storage, condition and included equipment. The Xbox 360 S is commonly called the Xbox 360 Slim; it is not an Xbox Series S. Check the listing photos and model description rather than relying on the word Xbox alone.

The original console has a larger case and an externally attached hard drive on equipped models. Elite systems belong to this original design family. Early original consoles lack HDMI, while the Elite includes it. If your television needs HDMI, ask for a clear photo of the rear connections before buying an original system.

The S and E include built-in Wi-Fi. The S has touch-sensitive front controls and more connection options, including an optical audio output that the E lacks. Either can suit a straightforward HDMI television setup. Storage varies within each model family, and a seller may have changed the hard drive. Confirm installed capacity in the console's settings rather than assuming the case or edition determines it.

An Xbox 360 price comparison is most useful when the offers include similar equipment. Start with the console, a compatible power supply, a television cable and a working controller. A cheaper console-only listing may cost more to make playable than an Xbox 360 bundle. Count only extras you actually want, and confirm that pictured games and controllers are included rather than illustrative.

Used and refurbished are separate conditions. A used listing should explain testing and cosmetic wear; a refurbished listing should describe the work performed and the seller's grading. Neither label alone establishes reliability. For stock described as new, check whether it is factory sealed, old inventory or simply assigned that condition by the feed. Read the actual listing and return terms before paying.

Useful evidence includes photos of the dashboard, a disc game running and the console's ports. Ask whether the disc tray opens normally, controllers connect and the system stays running during gameplay. Confirm that the supplied power brick matches the exact console model and your local mains supply. Check shipping charges and applicable taxes when comparing the final cost, not just the advertised asking price.

The Xbox 360 digital storefront has closed, so do not buy a system expecting to browse and purchase its old digital catalogue directly on the console. Previously purchased content can generally still be downloaded through the purchasing account. Physical Xbox 360 games remain useful, but check disc condition and regional compatibility. Do not assign extra value to a seller's account or promises of access to their digital library.

A small internal storage configuration can be restrictive for installations, downloadable content and games with mandatory installs. Check the requirements of the games you want and whether a suitable hard drive is actually installed. Playing supported original Xbox games requires a compatible Xbox 360 hard drive with the necessary backward-compatibility files; a third-party drive's advertised capacity alone does not establish compatibility.

Online availability depends on the individual game and its remaining services. Check your intended title before buying for multiplayer. Kinect games also need the Xbox 360 Kinect sensor and enough play space; original-model consoles require the appropriate external Kinect power connection.
